As a native of Mexico and founder of CREA Results Fernando has more than 15 years experience working in asset-based community development. CREA Results mobilizes and integrates the assets of the Latino community to improve the quality of life and health of all people in Colorado by building a unique community-based outreach model (Promotores de Salud) and working in partnerships with agencies, organizations and businesses promote public health, environmental, economic and social well-being.Fernando is a member of the Partnership of Academicians and Communities for Translation (PACT) a NIH grant awarded to the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.  Fernando also serves as a “cultural broker” in partnerships with academic researchers, government agencies and public health service and education agencies to address disparities and inequalities in health, education and health care of underserved populations and low socio economic status communities. Fernando’s passion, program work and research areas of interest are in the social, economic and political determinants of health status of minority populations; and incorporating evidence based practice in the management of chronic diseases in patient populations.
