JD Sawyer founded Colorado Aquaponics in 2009 and has been researching, developing and operating aquaponic systems ever since. He is now the CEO of Avolve Inc. (dba The Aquaponic Source). The Aquaponic Source is the largest retailer of aquaponic systems, supplies and educational materials in North America. JD and his wife Tawnya have taught aquaponics to thousands of people from all over the world. For five years they managed a 3,200 sq ft urban aquaponics farm in a food desert community in northeast Denver. The farm has consistently been profitable since 2014 and has produced over 100,000 lbs of produce for neighbors and local restaurants and markets. JD and his team at The Aquaponic Source are currently providing system design and consulting services along with a complete line of home and farm scale aquaponic systems for residential, educational and commercial applications.
