Rob Mies, Founder and Executive Director of the Organization for Bat Conservation, has been an outspoken advocate for bat conservation in the U.S. for over 25 years. Biodiversity and Bat Ecologist, Mies is the author the books Bats A to Z and Understanding Bats, the producer of OBC’s award-winning video Bats: The True Story and DVD Science of Bats, and co-author of the field guide Beginner’s Guide to Bats. In addition to appearing on TV shows that promote bat conservation, including The Doctors, The Tonight Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Today Show, Live with Regis and Kelly, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Fox & Friends, CBS Early Show, and Martha Stewart, Mies’ conservation work has been featured in numerous documentaries (ranging from Paramount Pictures to National Geographic). He is currently a featured scientist in the Discovery Channel’s Trailblazers, and is the Chairman of the Michigan Bat Working Group, President of the Midwest Bat Working Group, and Coordinator of the North American Bat Conservation Alliance.
